COSL secures LOI from PTTEP Thailand, while jackup Emerald Driller starts three-year gig in Indonesia

China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) has received a LOI from PTTEP Thailand for its Rig #4 requirement. It is understood that the LOI has been given for the provision of the jackup COSLSeeker that is presently in stacked in the Middle East. The commencement of the work in the Gulf of Thailand is targeted for the early part of 1Q 2025. Based on the tender, the duration is for a period of three years firm, with options.

Market rumours suggest that Pertamina Hulu Energi Mahakam (PHEM) is most likely to extend the contract of Japan Drilling jackup Hakuryu-14 until the end of the year. The original contract was expected to end in August, however RigLogix has received information that the unit will be deployed to the Bekapi, Sisi-Nubi, Peciko and SMK fields for the next six months. All these locations lie in the Mahakam Delta. Upon completion, the rig is scheduled to move to Singapore for its Special Periodic Survey (SPS). It has been working for the same client since delivery in 2018 from PPL Shipyard.

Semi-tender assist rig Sapura Alliance will be moving from its current location at M3DR-A to the Satong Field in Block PM307 imminently. The rig will be engaged in a multi-well Plug and Abandonment (P&A) program for Petronas Carigali (PSCB). This should keep the rig busy for the next four to five months. Water depth in the area is about 246ft (75m). For now, the unit is not available until sometime in 4Q.

Velesto Energy jackup Naga 4 is still drilling at the Gangsar platform (GaDP-A) offshore Peninsula Malaysia. The rig is expected to complete the three wells in the early part of September. After that, the rig is scheduled to be deployed to an undisclosed location offshore Sabah for a series of wells for Petronas Carigali (PCSB). The rig is on contract with PCSB until February 2026.

Velesto Energy jackup Naga 5 is now expected to complete its contract with Hess Malaysia during the second half of August. The rig began its 14-well contract in late October 2022 and has been operating in the Block PM302 in the North Malay Basin. The rig, which is fitted with Offline Activity Capability (OAC), is due for an SPS at the end of the current contract. It is understood that the rig will proceed to Singapore for the SPS.

Advanced Energy Systems (ADES) jackup Emerald Driller commenced drilling operations for Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES) during the last week of June, drilling the Titi A-17 development well. It is on a three-year contract with Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI) that comes with a two-year option. The unit will be used in various locations offshore Indonesia. Currently it is being deployed for a series of development drilling wells. The rig is now not available until 2Q 2027.
